Commercial Ins: Part 2 —Give accurate information on your application
Commercial Insurance
When searching for commercial insurance, the main thing your agent will be looking for is data. Purchasing insurance is all about information points that will help calculate a premium.
The key here is this: do not hide anything! Do not try to give sales and payroll figures that are not accurate. Insurance companies are allowed to audit your business at any point during the policy period. They will send someone in to review your books and make sure you’re not over or under paying.
Do not misrepresent what kind of business you do—if you manufacture commercial airline engine parts, then say that. If you do work for the government be sure to mention it. The last thing you want is for a claim to be denied because you misrepresented your business operations.
Personal Insurance
Some companies are offering a personal cyber extortion policy. This can be helpful as spamming has been on the rise in recent years.
What happens is someone will click on a spam link in an email, for example, and hackers will suddenly takeover the computer. In many cases they will relinquish control back to you in exchange for a ransom.
The cyber coverage would give you access to a cyber expert and funds to potentially pay the ransom so that you can gain control of your computer and data again.
